Dr. Ádám Békés is a well-known attorney-at-law and a much-appreciated university lecturer. He gained almost 20 years of experience in criminal defence, mainly in the field of complex economic crimes and those related to taxation issues. He has acquired outstanding expertise regarding the representation of the injured parties' interests and efficiently enforcing their claims during the criminal proceedings. During the spring of 2016, his monography, called Cross-border criminal law in the European Union, was published in the care of HVG Orac.

In 2004, he graduated as a lawyer-economist from today's Corvinus University.

He graduated as Doctor of Laws - with the qualification 'summa cum laude' - from the Péter Pázmány Catholic University Faculty of Law and Political Sciences in 2000, then started his studies at the Péter Pázmány Catholic University Doctoral School in 2001 and obtained his final certificate ('absolutorium') in 2006. After successfully defending his thesis, he was awarded doctorate (Ph.D.) with the qualification 'summa cum laude' in 2011.

He was appointed teacher of Péter Pázmány Catholic University Faculty of Law and Political Sciences in 2001 and since then he has been educating criminal law. In the first years he held seminars on substantive criminal law and since 2006 he has been holding main lectures both for full-time and part-time students as well. He organized several special seminars particularly on the subjects of European criminal law and the presentation of the criminal lawyers' activities from substantive and procedural law aspects in Hungarian and English as well. In 2006 he was appointed to assistant professor (senior lecturer), currently he educates as assistant professor responsible for the subject. Since 2006 he has been permanent member of the final exams' committee and consultant for students drafting their thesis. As a recognition of his outstanding academic activity the award of 'Pro Facultate' was granted to Dr. Ádám Békés in April 2016 by the Student Union of Péter Pázmány Catholic University Faculty of Law and Political Sciences.

Since 2012 he has been participating in the academic programme of the Doctoral School as well, currently he is requested consultant of two Ph.D.-candidates and annually participates on a regular basis in the doctoral committee. He has held lectures at several professional conferences - including even on national level - mainly on the subjects of European criminal law and economic crimes.

Since 2007 he has been member of the Hungarian Criminal Law Association, a professional initiative integrating judges, public prosecutors, attorney-at-laws and the representatives of jurisprudence from various counties of Hungary.

Upon the kind request of the Budapest Bar Association in 2012 he started to organize the small-group education of trainee-lawyers concerning the duties of criminal defence, moreover he gathered together the prominent lecturers of the subject, therefore the education of the subject at the Budapest Bar Association is currently managed by him as well. In 2016 the title of 'Prominent Attorney-At-Law' was conferred to Dr. Ádám Békés by the Presidency of the Hungarian Bar Association as an appreciation of his outstanding professional activity.

Since 2013 has been permanent member of the Legal Qualification Examining Body, examining the bar exams' candidates in the field of substantive criminal law.

He was elected to be member of the Ministry of Administration and Justice Committee of Criminal Law Codification in 2011, which body already in this year laid the regulation of economic crimes on new foundations, and then started the codification of the new Criminal Code. Dr. Ádám Békés therefore played a significant role in the creation and implementation of the new Criminal Code. Due to this successful cooperation, in 2013 he was invited by the National Publisher of Civil Service and Textbooks Company to prepare 8 chapters of the Commentary on the New Criminal Code. The Detailed Commentary on Act C of 2012 on the Criminal Code was published in 2016, Dr. Ádám Békés being one of the commentary's authors.

In 2014 he was elected to be member of the expert body developing the new Code on Criminal Proceedings, within this framework the experts of the Ministry of Justice, public prosecutors, judges and other prominent representatives of the legal sphere cooperate in the codification of the new procedural act. In the summer of 2016 he also participated as a delegate of the Hungarian Bar Association in the institutional part of the administrative consultation of the 'Proposal on the new act on criminal proceedings'. Dr. Ádám Békés made a number of proposals regarding deals, expanding victim's rights and measures insuring the freeze of assets (seizure), in order to increase their efficiency.

In 2016 Dr. Ádám Békés became member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences Committee on Legal and Political Sciences Sub-committee on Criminal Law Enforcement and invited researcher of the University of Pécs Faculty of Law Research Institute of Criminal Law and Criminology. He is the author of 9 chapters of the new Criminal Procedure commentary, appearing in the care of Wolters Kluwer Ltd., which was published in January, 2019.

In 2018 November, he was appointed as a Member of the Presidency of Budapest Bar Association, then in 2019 February, a Member of the Presidency of Hungarian Bar Association.
